116 - Podcast Friday is BACK! With Award-winning journalist David Epstein and The Sports Gene!
We are starting our new season with a special interview with David Epstein, Senior Writer for Sports Illustrated.  Today is a special day because Mr. Epstein's new book - The Sports Gene - was released yesterday on August 1.  In the book, Mr. Epstein considers the 10,000 Practice Rule (and why it is false), as well as the actual role of genetics in determining what type of athlete you'll be.   This book - as well as our podcast - takes you not only into the lab, but also to East Africa, to Jamaica, and to the Arctic Circle in pursuit of the answer to how much influence nature vs. nurture has in determining each of our athletic prowess (and you'll see how reindeer are involved in this answer!). If you're a long-time listener, you know that our interviews with Mr. Epstein are always fun and stimulating conversations.
