Tactical readiness and performance hinge upon individuals within the military, astronauts, firefighters, police, and other tactical units. Federal, state, and local governments rely on these individuals to carry out their duties, often in extreme environments with high physical demands. 

Dr. Steven Riechman, Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Sports Management, directs the Tactical Human Performance Laboratory (THPL). A critical feature of the THPL is that it will contain an environmental chamber used to conduct thermoregulatory and tactical performance research.

The THPL is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2025.
